A bit of misinformation can fuck with your ability to succeed in life!
Under the profile photo of a guy sending me a friend request on Facebook:
PUSH YOURSELF BECAUSE NO ONE ELSE IS GOING TO DO THAT FOR YOU. (More like, TO you.)
This comes under the same umbrella as, "I'm REALLY HARD on myself!" which a lotta folks declare like it's something to be proud of. Yech!
I have found my dears, that it's far more rewarding and gratifying to cheer myself on, pat myself on the back for a job done well enough, and celebrate the hell outta my victories, than to go on fault-finding missions like I (stupidly) did in my early 20's. In fact, I'd have never risen to what I am today, had I continued that self-abuse.
You aren't "successful" because you drive yourself hard. Any success you've miraculously acquired while you're abusive to yourself, has been IN SPITE of it.
Think of it this way, does one who's beaten by another WANT to perform well? Even DOGS respond best to positive reinforcement when you're training em! Why do humans have this ludicrous notion they must drive themselves hard??
Because they grew up with emotionally impaired parental units who were clueless about how much affection and love a child needs to feel good about him or herself, and they demanded that poor kid automatically KNOW what it took the idiot parent over 40 years to figure out.
Is it ANY wonder our world is so fucked up?
