A dollar saved, is a dollar earned.
An old (now deceased) friend once called me penurious. It means frugal with money. I learned this habit as a teen, when my "clothing allowance" of $20 a month had to stretch and cover my haircuts, my shoes, my clothes, any makeup or personal items I wanted, etc.
This was literally why I started cutting my own hair at 15, and have been doing so, ever since! This skill segued into a vocation 15 years later, when I got a barber's license and made my hobby professionally legit.
I love that I'm this way. I occasionally spoil or indulge myself on stuff I want, but it's always a justifiable present to myself, and goddamn it, I fucking deserve it!
Financial frugality is what helps the rich get richer. Don't think for a moment, they grew up being careless with cash. Old habits die hard, as they say~ and I will always delight in saving a buck, because like a gal pal always used to say, “I never wanna be a bag lady!”
