Perhaps it’s no surprise, I’m drawn to series and film about people who meddle in others minds, especially when it’s clear they haven’t sorted out their own tragic flaws, and “Chance” (2016- 2017) delivers in spades! It’s utterly captivating (at least for me), and I’ll likely polish off season 2 sometime today or this evening.
Hugh Laurie, possibly best known for his starring role as the cantankerous doctor in the TV series, “House” delivers a stellar performance in Chance. Laurie portrays a highly regarded neuro-psychiatrist with a somewhat murky past, poor impulse-control and stellar ethical code.
When the good doctor is asked to assess a beautiful young woman who suffers with a dissociative disorder and abusive husband, Eldon Chance’s Savior Complex catalyzes a series of Ego-dystonic choices that not only put his laudable career at risk, but force him to question his own sanity.
My favorite character is a quirky, lovable, telephone booth sized man who goes by the name, “D.” Stream this series on Hulu.
