Is this the Real Life? Is this just Fantasy?
Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody could have struck a chord, had it been utilized.
I’m watching an addictive series on Apple TV called, "We Crashed" (based on factual events). Once I moved past the title and got into it, I was HOOKED. One season, 8 episodes.
The acting is nothing short of superb. This series is downright captivating~ if only in the sense of watching two people whose grandiosity perpetually fuels unbridled fantasy each partner is obliged to reignite in the other, the moment any semblance of authentic introspection occurs.
We're basically watching two adrenaline-addicted Narcissists coaxing and enabling one another to keep using, whenever euphoria slightly wanes and they start glimpsing their respective insecurities and limitations. Honest self-assessment and any hint of "negative thinking" are considered utterly taboo by this dynamic duo.
Jared Leto and Anne Hathaway as Adam and Rebekah Neumann sweep us up into their meteoric rise to fortune and fame, where bravado and wishful thinking obliterate all sense of reality. Both it appears, teeter on the borderline of psychosis. Still, we can't help but admire and perhaps even ENVY these characters, but common sense forces us to episodically question just how long this magnificent, whirlwind charade can last.
