We all make mistakes. The reality is, nobody ever learned anything from getting it right 100% of the time. If we err, it’s because we’re human, and we’re allowed to not know how to do everything on the first try! But how many of us cut ourselves this kinda slack?
Now and then I get an intense craving for something. Lately, it’s been sour or tart tasting stuff. Today I made a lemon bar recipe (from a box mix). I improvised a bit on the recipe, but aside from this, I accidentally neglected to bake the crust first (per directions), before I added the lemony custard mixture. Too late to fix this error, I popped it in the oven, hoping for the best.
Sans an 8 x 8 baking pan called for, I was already on shaky ground from the start of this adventure. I used a non-stick fry pan, and figured it’d be okay. After baking it a bit longer than directed (given the unbaked crust beneath), I extracted it from my oven.
I long ago taught myself NEVER to beat up on, shame or guilt myself for mistakes I make. Who fucking benefits from this kind of treatment? Surely not children, and not adults either.
I did not pre-chill this mixture in the fridge before eating. I used a big bamboo spatula to scoop out almost a quarter section of this dessert, and went to town on it. Splurging is not a sin in my book, and it was delicious!
Sometimes, we make a mistake by misjudging a person or business venture. These types of mistakes can cost us dearly. We might think of ‘em as mishaps. Mishaps usually hurt for a long time. It could be an injury to our body that takes months to heal, or trusting someone with our heart, before we’ve adequately assessed their character.
Frankly, My “lemon bars” weren’t meant to be consumed by Royalty, so I didn’t give a fuck what they looked like. It only mattered that this concoction tasted great. As an aside, the crust got cooked. All is well~ and while this lemon treat could never win a bakeoff contest, I’m still gonna enjoy the hell out of it, all by myself.
Did I mention, I’m trying to gain a few pounds?
