The DARK side of Oprah Winfrey
I've always sensed there was something really DARK about Oprah. I never watched her show, but occasionally landed on it by accident years ago, while channel surfing.
My suspicions were confirmed when she EVISCERATED author, James Frey on national TV for "misrepresenting" his book that she'd RAVED about, entitled "A Million Little Pieces." I sensed Oprah felt shame for having promoted his book as wholly factual, when it was fictionally embellished, so she projected HER shame onto Frey.
A classier move would have been to say, "oops! I really thought this was an autobiography, and I apologize to my BOOK CLUB for unwittingly misleading y'all."
Could we have anticipated something more sincere and emotionally responsible from one of America's sweethearts? Possibly, but given all the years Oprah's struggled with an eating disorder, we might logically presume she's somewhat undercooked emotionally.
After this particular vicious public attack on an author whose literature she initially LOVED, I wouldn't be too hasty to rule-out BPD.
