The Devil you KNOW . . .
People are weird. They complain about obstacles they have, realize they're getting nowhere with em after decades of "therapy," yet remain right where they are.
When I was in the beauty biz, clients referred friends to me who were repeatedly unhappy with the bad haircuts they got from their existing stylist. Did I ever meet those people? No.
Why does this strange phenomenon happen? We tend to stay with what's familiar, even if we're unhappy with it. It's at least a 'known' entity, and we can anticipate a predictable outcome.
Trying something NEW brings up fears concerning the unknown. No matter how miserable we are, we resist change, 'cause it's scary! Change is always destabilizing, and feeling unstable makes us uncomfortable.
You must ask yourself this question, next time you're bitching about your "condition" or disorder (dis-order): Am I more afraid to risk trying something new that MAY work out well for me, than staying indefinitely, with the dissatisfaction I've got?
The Devil you KNOW, is often your train ride to Hell, so why not take a chance on something that could very well produce a better outcome for ya?
