I thought JD did a pretty good job overall, with the VP debate~ but it pissed me off when he pulled a couple of Kamala’s. In fact, I was shouting at my computer screen!
When one is asked a direct question about policy or position on an issue, answer the fucking question! JD instantly launched into his childhood experiences, wasting precious minutes of his debate time. He did it more than once, and it infuriated me every single time!
Did he really feel a need to deflect, by emulating Kamala’s word salad?? (“I was raised in a middle class home” ~which seems to be her standard go-to, when she can’t think on her feet for more than 2 seconds at a time.) Was it really necessary for JD to go off on his “childhood” tangents? I felt this marred an otherwise decent (not spectacular, but decent) performance.
I was surprised (if we’re being honest here, and not cheering hollowly for our “they can do wrong” Republicans and glorifying ‘em where no glory is actually earned), that Walz, as much as I detest and distrust the dude, sounded cogent, composed and fairly intelligent at times.
Look friends, if we can’t manage to give truthful critiques~ even when we vehemently support one candidate over the other, aren’t we stooping as low as the other side, who seem blind and/or delusional about the morons they’re running??
I passionately want Trump to win, because I believe it spells disaster for America if he doesn’t~ but that doesn’t mean I’m oblivious to his screw-ups! He’s way too easily baited, he repeats himself and his achievements ad-nauseum, and it’s too fucking bad the man’s prodigious Ego gets in the way of his common sense, when he’s debating even a weak adversary, and feels compelled to defend, defend, defend against the bold-faced LIES they hurl at him. This is when Trumps insecurity shows up, Big Time.
One who is genuinely confident, never feels a need to talk about their achievements or accomplishments~ whether it’s their academic strides, their material largesse, or their sexual prowess. Confidence is something you feel deep inside, and you OWN it, which means you’re not having to give yourself ‘pep talks’ each morning, just to crawl outta bed.
All I’m saying is, we are social media journalists, and I think it’s vital to remember that no matter WHO you’re rooting for politically, they should be assessed accurately and honestly within these platforms… otherwise, you’re just another mainstream hack who slants the narrative in your team’s favor~ and don’t ya feel a little icky about that afterward?? Amen.
Interestingly enough, I had the very same thoughts!
