Indeed it is, Dawn… especially for millions worldwide, who stop themselves from feeling “too happy” because they always fear (due to consistent, pernicious childhood programming) that the other shoe’s gonna drop!

When we’re little, every setback and disappointment feels destabilizing, and even devastating. We learn to anticipate disaster at every turn, because whenever we felt relatively stable or good for a few minutes, something followed almost immediately, to steal those light, good feelings from us.

Prophesy fulfillment then, becomes our secret aim. We get satisfaction out of having our worst expectations come true. Many even self-sabotage, just so they can feel an element of CONTROL over a bad outcome ahead, rather than waiting with anxiety to see what terrible, “unknown” fate might actually befall them.

This is THE most common anxiety trigger among millions all over the world, and isn’t it tragic, that so many have accepted that it’s easier to stay dissatisfied or miserable, than to hope for a brighter tomorrow~ and it’s all due to routine childhood programming!
