I had a friend who worked in D.C. during the Clinton administration and was working for the public works sector that helped mothers & children who were at risk. She was working overtime because she knew that halcyon days of what her program had been able to achieve would come to an end with a change in leadership.

Our government is not a one-trick-pony led by the figurehead at the top. It's what the party stands for. Traditionally, Democrats believe in extending a hand so everyone could have a break. Conversely, Republicans have believed people should work hard, pick themselves up by their own bootstraps and pay their taxes.

Somewhere along the way it's become a hellish mess of "us" vs. "them." This helps no one and only spreads more dissent. The media is all too happy to report and rehash ad nauseum. No wonder the country is suffering from record numbers of depression.

We all - and I do mean all - recently- came through a worldwide pandemic. People acted like it was the end of days. We would never survive. We were doomed. Denmark wiped out a whole species in fear of contagion. Panic.

Ahem. Excuse me. We're here. We survived and thanks to our strengths and differences we thrive. A very strong lady taught me that.

Enjoy the roller coaster of life. It's never good to get off in the middle.

I'm independent, strong and resourceful, because I didn't get handouts from my parents. The will to survive AND thrive is taken away from kids/adults who have everything handed to 'em. There's a terrible failure to launch among young people today. Their parents (via enmeshment and using material offerings as currency for "love") make it too easy and comfortable to remain at home.

These are the crippled adults who continue to paint themselves into corners financially, because they've never learned the value of a dollar. Same goes for migrants. Why WORK, when they have NO incentive to support themselves?!

Many times, I've urged my clients to take a few part-time jobs as a means to an end (building a financial 'safety net' under 'em while they're trying to figure out what they wanna do career-wise). Earning one's own money and becoming financially responsible for themselves aids in building self-esteem. Period.
