Good stuff. I like how you educated us and also personified our country and explained what poor leadership and behavior does to a country (or a couple).
Thanks very much, Christine. Your ability to connect the dots and appreciate the analogy is much appreciated! (It’s nourishing to encounter bright people like yourself on Substack.)
As a recovering codependent this resonates in all areas! Perhaps that’s part of why some of us recognize certain situations faster than others. Because we’ve lived it personally, survived the consequences & done some work on ourselves to no longer act out the role we learned.
Thank you for the well explained analogy. I plan to share it & use it as a tool to help others see more clearly where we are as a nation, in terms of our relationship status with the rest of the world. I’m afraid we’re fast approaching a very ugly breakup, with few, if any, off-ramps still available.
Nope, it isn’t. God may have a hand in your outcome, but You are responsible for doing the work to get yourself where ya wanna go.
Your Hero Complex is a deeply entrenched carryover from early childhood, and it’s profoundly connected to the fact you didn’t have a mother who was incapable of nurturing you and responding to your emotional needs.
Shari - I’ve been through all this. I am a math and systems guy. There is no engineering solution to this stuff. Only submitting to a higher authority, who knows our nature and loves us, has the ability to disrupt and redeem all this dysfunction.
You go with that, hon. Pathological codependency CAN be healed and mitigated, with specialized assistance. Meanwhile, ya might wanna look into my book, DO YOU LOVE TO BE NEEDED, OR NEED TO BE LOVED?
Question: the DSM IV states (I’ll condense) that transgenderism is a mental illness. Do you agree with that conclusion of the DSM IV? I am asking because I wish to better understand how your judgment functions.
No, and I do not classify personality disorders as ”mental illness,” either. Body dysmorphia issues (anorexia nervosa, gender dystonia, etc.), are in my view, due to deep seated self-loathing ideation that was spawned in infancy and early childhood, due to inadequate affectional nurturance from a mother who was herself, emotionally impaired and incapable of bonding with her newborn. And yes, postpartum depression can and does play a significant role in the development of one’s ability to forge a positive, healthy sense of worth and Self as one matures.
And if there is no God, no right or wrong, no truth or falsehood, then a corollary is that there is no health or dysfunction. You need God because his existence guarantees the existence of true and false, good and bad, without which you could never even attempt to help someone “heal”. A person cannot heal if they cannot distinguish between good and bad, truth and falsehood, health and dysfunction. God is the starting point and always has been. Acknowledge Him so that your wellness practices can be blessed by Him (and by His standard of truth and by His standard of righteousness). If you aim at something, but your foundation is shaky, you will miss. Start from a solid foundation.

Aww thank you. Too many people just believe the blabbing instead of applying a critical thinking lens.
Thank you, Shari for more clarification on this subject. It is also a personal one for me as well. You are very appreciated, to say the least!

Hero complex here - submission to God is the only solution.

It could be a real eye-opener for ya.
